Metamorphis

September 18th, 2005

Know what I noticed….my living room is now a parking spot. I havent used the living room for anything but a place to store my bikes since I moved the tv. Not that I sat over there very often, mostly just to fall asleep on the couch, but its nothing now. The couch and hearth are at just the right level for the pedal to sit on and then the axles lean against. They fit just too well. Says something about the living room of most people these days. I dont think I can remember the last time I used the living room for guests or any sort of conversating. I put it in its current setting so you could easily talk to people or sit in front of the fire place and read. But out of all my time here, I have only had a handfull of guests. I guess it was right what one person said, “you dont have anything to bring people to your place.” Then when have you been to someone’s place and actualy sat around in the living room? Usualy its in the kitchen, the deck, the garage, or the back yard. I do most my catching up with people by way of telecommuting. I talk on line, email, or call people more than go see them or they come see me. And I believe this is the way the world is going, which is a bit of a shame. I do enjoy the ease of communication between long distances or times, but going and having a face to face is the best way. Well it will change sometime….when we all have chips in our brains….

This weekend was tireing for sure. I spent the night over at the Johnson’s since I was getting up at 6am to go canoeing. We did like 6 miles on the Buffalo river. It has been years, decades, since the last time I went canoeing. It did take a few mins to get readjusted, mostly going backwards for a little while then it caught of oh do this to do that. We did flip twice tho. Once for my stupidity trying to play around, then once got into a tree in the river that caught us then rolled us. That was a tough one to get the canoe out of tho. Now I am paying for it for sure. Im totaly sore, 6-8 hours of paddleing or the such. But mostly the swimming to get stuff for others or getting myself out of trouble, then getting beat up a few times in the water. And well sitting wrong for so long, my hips were like on the rails of the boat and now I have a bruise there.

But rewind, Thursday went and got my mt bike fixed. So had to go break it in right. Headed over to Hamilton Park and did a few miles off road. I went a new way pair that with me not being in the dirt for almost a year now it feels like…It wore me out. Dirt riding is definatly more of a work out, plus barreling down a hill towards trees tend to leave you white knuckled. My hands were sore and tired, forarms were tired, legs burning, sweat dripping, and having total fun. Thinking the rest of the season will be in the dirt. Dont have too many places to ride dirt around here but Ill make do. Now I think Ill get in bed early….mmmm extra sleep
