Bowlcut’s little piece of the world

Well lets see…Ive managed to do….NOTHING. Not that terrible tho. It has been rainy which seems to be the norm for my vacation. I believe it was this time last year when I had the bright idea to go to Panama City for the weekend since it was a long weekend. What happened then…hurricane. What happened this year when I planed to go somewhere…hurricane. Well end of the week looks promising. Ill go up stay with Josh and his new wife for atleast a day then head over to the Biltmore House. I want a halfway sunny day to take plenty of pics in the garden. I havent really played with my camera in months.

Wouldnt mind a new camera, but I just cant justify one yet. I dont shoot enough. Plus I have tons other hobbies and bills that should take presidence. Money isnt going too bad but can always use more. We are getting our bonus here soon which is nice. That will go into savings I do believe, help build up the emergancy fund again. Im getting close to being sitting back where I feel mostly comfortable. This is bad too. I hate sitting comfortable cause I tend to spend too much, even if I have a budget. Funny how that happens eh. Ok well tonight….more nothing, probably tv or atleast british tv that I have yet to get around to watching.

Well so begins my week off. Why am I taking a week off? Cause I can. Definatly can use some time off tho. But with as much PTO as I have its not a huge deal for me to take a week off. Thinking Ill head up to the Biltmore house like this weekend. Was going to come this week but the hurricane is dumping water state wide till like wednesday. Thinking of going to Huntsville today to the Space Center, that could be fun. Not sure tho, just may sit around and like clean on the apartment. That is if Im being productive on my days off….

Well I worked my butt off this weekend. I came in Saturday and worked
for 5 hours restoring data from a tape. Admittedly it wasnt like hard
work just sitting there and waiting. Sunday was a little more work,
but that was 7 hours worth atleast. Im definatly taking next week
off. I dont know for sure what Im going to do tho. I have to run
Mike to the airport on Sunday sometime other than that I have no
plans. Thought of going to see dad for a little while, dont know when
Ill get time with him working and having to take Mike to the airport.=20
The schedule will be kinda tricky around all that.

Work today, trying to do as little as possible right now. Im just
very tired thats for sure. Having to look at our tape backups and get
them in order. Thats about it I think. Ok now on to email more
people cause I dont feel like doing real work.

Well I got the first part of our weekend work done today. It didnt go quickly thats for sure. I used the command IBM gave me, low and behold, it didnt work. It just sat there and churned for like 2 hours before I canceled it. I then redid the command and it finaly started copying. It didnt do exactly what I wanted, but it did get the data put to the drive. Just a little moving around and it is ready. Now to finish it up tomorrow. I hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow. If so…Im taking some time off. Serious time off, I need a break, Im mentaly tired. Ok now to veg out for a little while.

Seems everyone gets so excited for Friday’s for some reason. Cant say that I do. Espcialy this one, since I dont get off this weekend. So looks like 12 days straight of work for me. Tonight is Charles’ wife’s suprise birthday party, that kinda sucks. Other side of town and means I wont get home till late. Not that I have a whole lot else to do, just kinda picky when it comes to work nights. Had a decent workout last night. Doing about 2 miles on the treadmill. Not constant tho, 5min walk, 5min run, 5min walk, 5min run, 5min walk. Its funny cause that second run section is always easier than the first. Then did a dcent shoulder workout and I sorta feel it today. Havent hit those shoulders like I should have lately. That and back needs some more attention. Well off to work…again

Well Ive completely revamped the place here. New software for blogging, new software for the gallery. Got a few more things I think I want to do as well to kinda make this place cool. It is easier than ever to update this page, the gallery is quite nice and will take a little getting used to. Doing this has helped keep the mind off of things and keeping me busy.

Have to work this weekend as I have said and lamented before. Saturday will be spent restoring a tape to the hard drive. Ive never dont that, so it will be interesting to say the least. That susposaly takes like 4 hours. Then Sunday have to go in and turn off a machine to let IBM replace the battery in it. Also during that time do a ghost image of another machine since its hard drive has died once before. The one we imaged to took a crap, the old one was fine. So do that process again. Fun…just hopeing it all goes well and I can breathe a bit easier at work.

Well I over slept as expected. I cant seem to get in bed at a decent
hour and then cant really get up in the morning. I have too much on
my mind anymore. I really need that time off I keep talking about. I
just hope and pray that this weekends work goes well cause I want some
time off. Now also lets see if this will import right and be up by
the time I get to work. Off to work I go

Testing of cronning this checking for emails. If so this will be very
cool. Ill just be able to update anywhere by email. Free open source
software kicks mucho ass.

It appears that any special characters tends to throw it off. will
have to remember that

Final one for the night, mostly cause Im tired of trying to get this
function to work from email.

Yes Im changing bowlcorp a bit. Will have to see about importing all my old stuff here soon. But bear with me Im changing things a lot

Well it seems all I can do anymore is fuck up. I screwed the pooch big time last Friday. I crashed our backup server/development box. While its not mission critical, it is definatly not a good thing. The building was being locked up and I got out, not realizing it was assumed by higher ups that I would stay there day or night to fix it. I didnt really know that. But I got it back up within 2 hours Monday morning. I am totaly ignorant towards AIX, IBM and their opperating system is totaly criptic. It never crashes unless you screw with it, but dang its it annoying to work with. Now I gota work Saturday and Sunday to do backups and try to get that backup box online as production so we can take down production. Have to replace some hardware within production. I hope I can get things working right this time and not type in the wrong command that brings the box to a grinding hault.

I am stressed out beyond belief. Guess after all that goes down this weekend and if it goes well, Ill be taking the following week off. I will have some comp time Ill have to take then Ill take a few days off. Thinking the week of the 29th. I dont know what Ill do, but I need some time off and get away from work. Its going to be a long week thats for sure….

Well I got recruited to go to work tomorrow. Electric company is turning off the power to one of our buildings. Just so happen we do have a major server in that building. It is on battery backup. But 4 hour downtime…untested batteries…what do you do… Well Im going in and turning things off just to be sure. Stupid sql database on a windows server. Lord knows if that goes down non-gracefully…it will likely corrupt everything. Not taking a chance thats for sure. So that means up in Metro Center by 7:30am, fun stuff for me. Guess go ride the bike around downtown or something see what I can see. Or take this laptop and watch some movies…decisions decisions decisons.

Did go get the new account opened, it was mostly painless. Now to get the paycheck split between the two. Thats more of a headache than anything else cause it means stoping direct deposit for one time then it restarting. Thats a headache cause means I gota go deposit the pay check, and Im bad about getting to the bank. Oh well think im going to watch some british tv while I fall alseep
