Long weekend

Monday, June 20th, 2005

I didnt think this weekend would end.  It started earlyl as well.  Ok this is the chain of events.  Started Thrusday night by going to Columbia to get Mike's truck.  Wake up Friday morning drive to Clarksville to help Suzie move.  Drive from Clarksville to my apartment grab clothes, my apartment to Columbia to return the truck.  From Columbia drive to Oak Ridge to stay with Calum.  Get to bed at 3:30am, wake up at 6:45 take a shower and drive to Calhoon GA.  Spend all day on my feet messing with cars then drive from Calhoon to Oak Ridge once again.  Get up next day and drive to Elizabethton.  Hang out up there for a couple hours for Fathers day.  Get up from there and drive back to Nashville.  Thats approx 21 hours in a car starting Thursday night.  Oh well it happens.

The shop in GA was really cool.  The dude that runs it was from London so a very cool accent and just a laid back type of guy.  We had a productive day for tuning of cars.  Saw the guys Ive not seen in atleast a year.  I gota get back up to East TN tho to see the guys up there thats been even longer like Homer.  Saw my niece, which Ive not see in atleast a year and a half probably.  Now Im taking off today to catch up.  Gota do the normal weekend stuff today.  So going to get groceries here in a min, doing the dishes, cleaned up the apartment, do laundry, and catch up on the few tv shows I try to watch.  Ok its lunch time Im hungry…

If you arent breaking stuff…

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

You are going too slow.  Thats my excuse and Im sticking to it damn it.  Broke yet another spoke on the moutain bike.  I dont think I can get any more miles out of these rims.  I dont think the rims are the issues but the stock spokes are.  They have 400 miles on them and pretty hard miles at that.  They are just tired I think.  Could be the rim deforming tho that could do it but no way of telling easily.  A new set of rhynolytes will be 160 bucks with tires I think.  Not able to get those for atleast a month I dont think, no money.  Kinda ticks me off a bit.  But I did really kill this bike.  Its sitting at almost a dollar a mile for it so far.  Frame is in great shape, got some noise in the drive train which I think is the pedals, and the brakes are a little soft.  But other than that its in decent shape. It was up at Lock 4 and that place is really nice.  Id definatly ride it again, really fast single track type of trail.  Lot different than Hamilton Creek.  But at 40ish miles from home thats a bit of a drive.  Its almost an hour away.  Land between the lakes is about 2 horus away and its more fun.  Ill do it again but not often there are a few trails closer here.  Riding in the woods is so much fun.  Road riding is a workout and fun, but dirt in the woods….so much more.  Its pretty, is cooler, its shaded, its hairy, you see stuff, you test yourself…its just soo much more.  I can see me splitting up the riding between the two once I get wheels.  Road 2 or 3 times a week, dirt in between atleast once a week.  Its also quicker to get the heart rate up….scary at times ;)

Bad weather saturday

Saturday, June 11th, 2005

Well it was a nasty day today. Had plans of washing and a full detail job on the car. Ive yet to wash and wax it by hand since I got it. I need to sometime soon cause summer will start to bake its clear coat Im sure. It was a nasty day but know what, it wasnt a bad day. I had a good time none the less. All plans kinda went south but still managed a decent day alone. I fully detailed the interior of the car and trunk. Then quickly headed to the bike shop to pick up my rear wheel. Willie hooked me up with a fully tuned/trued/tensioned rear wheel. We will see how long it stays in true thats the big thing. But sat up there and shot the shit with the guys for a good couple hours. They are good guys. Then went back to Rod's to pick up my bike I left there and jumped in the pool. Yes swiming in the rain, wet no matter what the way I see it. Water was a great temp despite being a little nasty looking still not fully clear yet. I did a few laps and just played around felt good after working and sweating all morning. Im not as boyant as I once was… I no longer easily float 2 feet above the water I guess thats a good thing. So yea can make a decent day out of a dreary day. Guess Ive always had that ablility. Now just laying around debating when I want to go to sleep. Tired but at the same time Im like halfway debating getting up and going to Walmart just to walk around if nothing else. Its like my body thinks its still in college or something.

NonStop

Wednesday, June 8th, 2005

Seems Im going nonstop lately. Just cant get a little time to sit down and do very little. Work definatly keeping me busy. Hope keeping decently busy. Driving fills in the gaps. It makes the days go by faster thats for sure. Look up and its almost time to go home, look up later its time to eat, look up again and its bed time. I cant believe its already mid June.

Know what would be nice to have? The ability to read people, or hell just figure them out. Everyone is so cryptic and secretive….now I wouldnt be that way would I??? Just cant figure out things here and there. Wouldnt it be easier if everyone had a help button. Cant figure out what the hell they are saying…hit f1 figure it out in the manual. Like the old joke with linux. Its help is called man. So you do a man (short for manual) for woman, man woman…it comes up “No manual entry for woman”…total confusion, isnt that the truth. The old man entry was funnier I cant remember it tho. Man man does give you all the help in the world tho, says something dont it.

Im still somewhat stuck on the weight loss. Cant really shake it. Im not sure what Im doing wrong, body totaly adapted or what. Im just screwed I think. Only thing I havent tried yet is ye old binge/purge. Doesnt that sound fun tho. Looks like maybe another full weekend. Going to try to give the car a good workover. Need to change my oil, then I want to do a full wash/wax. Funny people look at me like Im weird when I say I need about 8 hours to do that. A good wash/wax takes time. I wonder if Ill put sun screen on this weekend in the sun….

I cant race

Sunday, June 5th, 2005

Well it looks like autocross isnt my sport. I got an early fast time but then proceded to suck it up the rest of the day. I can use tons of excuses probably. Stuff like Id get the car hot and the tires were hot and slimey by then… One time they were horrible and thats when I really did cream that cone. Oh well. Stood outside all day and I paid the price, my face feels like pure pain. Im sure its going to get worse too. Didnt do anything else for the most part. Picked up my wood carved skull from dad and its really coo. That was about it. I think I should go on a road course sometime see if thats more my area cause fast paced autocross isnt. Not a lot planned this week. Going to try to wash the car next weekend if Rod will let me use his place while he is gone. Need to take my mt bike rim to the shop sometime but think that may wait who knows, just need to get time to take it up there. Ok time to watch some british comedy while I fall asleep.

Weekends

Friday, June 3rd, 2005

Well starting to look like my weekends are getting busier again. I went a few weeks with not much but usualy that doesnt last long. Or those weekends with few plans rarely stay that way. End up at someones doing some work of some sort usualy. This week has flew by mostly cause Ive been out of the office at work. Going to do some racing this weekend, and get to see dad at the same time. Double duty doesnt happen often. But that is going to mean a lot of time on the road. Probably not as much as fathers day coming up, but more than usual. Dont know if Ill flog on Calum's car or not tho. Hopeing to get to meet Josh's wife since I couldnt make it to any of the wedding activities. If I were weird Id put the bike on the car to take it with me, and get up and ride some Sunday morning. Problem is Saturday will be all day driving, on the road before 6am. I swear I never get to get any sleep anymore…hell look at the time stamp on this entry…

Rides

Wednesday, June 1st, 2005

Well did the CRAM this past weekend. Thats 100km or 62 miles. We averaged 17mph so around 3:40 to ride it. It was quite pleasant. I really crushed the course it seemed. All the training we have done in the hills of Joelton seemed to pay off. As I was going up hills Id pass everyone that looked all “professional” then of course they would eventualy catch back up. Who would have thought I could ride for dang near 4 hours at a 17mph pace…and enjoy it. The land was mostly flat and it was some of the best riding weather Ive ever seen. Dont know when Ill try it again…maybe next month.

Not a lot going on elsewhere. Im just doing the normal routine day in day out. Its not horrible but definatly not exciting either. May be heading home sooner than I thought. But other than that not a lot really changing or going on. Helping Rod at his house doing some improvements, since Im a jack of all trades and cant really do any of that stuff in an apartment. Work is rather boring or lame depending on the day. Friends…are being anoying at best it seems. People cant make up their minds people lie and people hide. I often wonder what brings me back. Im watching too much tv…well too much british tv. Seems Im hooked on a few new different shows out of the UK, well a few old too. At the same time, not in front of the tv often, if ever. Which is good. I need to get back out on the bike, but want to get my mt bike fixed I want to hit the dirt. Asphalt is fun but 62 miles burnt me out. I want to see some trees and dirt. Ok bed time stupid work…and a new month.
